Weekend Update: DC Design House 2015

The Washington DC, Design House, established in 2008, began as a unique design show house event for DC Metro designers to showcase their talents and raise funds for a local charity. Over the years, The DC Design House evolved from a one time event to the region's most highly regarded residential design attraction, and a leader in fundraising efforts for the Children's National Health System. With over 55,000 attendees and more than $1 million raised for the Children's National Health System over the last six years, The DC Design House is here to stay. DHM Media Group attended this year's Design House Tour on Saturday April 25th, and we have to say, the designers did a fantastic job! The 2015 DC Design House will be held from April 11th to May 10th; click DC Design House Tour for ticket sales and additional information.

Autism Awareness Month

April is Autism Awareness Month and April 2nd 2015 is World Autism Awareness Day. Please visit Autism Speaks for upcoming events and more information.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and autism are both general terms for a group of complex brain development disorders characterized by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and non-verbal communication, and repetitive behavior. ASD is often associated with attention and physical health issues and difficulties in motor coordination. Signs symptoms of autism tend to manifest during early brain development between the ages of 2 and 3. Autism Speaks continues to fund research efforts on more effective methods of early diagnosis as early intervention with persistent behavioral therapies can improve prognoses.
