If you’re planning an event, start by setting a goal. Usually it’s for a monetary profit - either a fundraiser, workshop or networking happy hour event. Make a note of who you’re trying to target - Young professionals? Families? This will help you in creating your event as well as market it effectively through social media. What will people get out of your event? - Entertainment? Awareness to your cause? Building a skill?

A catchy hashtag can be used across all social media platforms to market your event and allow your ‘followers’ to use it as well. Create shareable images or infographics with condensed information to broaden your reach. Share fun behind-the-scenes images of event preparations so your followers have visuals of what they have to look forward to.

If your event includes guest speakers - make sure to highlight their accomplishments and interesting facts about them.

 If you’ve held a previous similar event, post images, videos or testimonials - so your followers have an idea of what to expect. Make sure to include a link to your website - there you can set-up a registration page with more information about your organization and company.

 Always engage with anyone invited to your event - make sure to respond to comments or questions. Discounts or special promotions are a great incentive as well.
